The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has reviewed the preparedness of its Autonomous Institutions and field organisations for the Implementation Phase of Special Campaign 6, following the successful completion of the Preparatory Phase on 30 September 2026. A hybrid review meeting was held at DST Headquarters to assess the progress made during the Preparatory Phase and to ensure coordinated, outcome-oriented action during the Implementation Phase from 2 October to 31 October 2026.

The meeting was chaired by the Joint Secretary (Administration), DST, who is also the Nodal Officer for Special Campaign 6. Senior officials from DST Headquarters participated in person, while representatives of Autonomous Institutions, the Survey of India, the National Atlas & Thematic Mapping Organisation (NATMO), Technology Innovation Hubs (TIHs), Missions and Laboratories joined through video conferencing.

Addressing the participants, the Joint Secretary (Administration) appreciated the concerted efforts made by the organisations during the Preparatory Phase and called for sustained momentum, visible outcomes and time-bound implementation during the Campaign. She urged all participating organisations to translate the targets identified during the Preparatory Phase into tangible outcomes and undertake innovative and impactful initiatives that strengthen Swachhata, efficiency, transparency and good governance.

The Nodal Officer emphasised that the Campaign should go beyond routine cleanliness activities and focus on systematic improvement of workplace efficiency and resource management. Organisations were advised to intensify cleanliness and Swachhata drives, undertake systematic weeding out of obsolete records and materials, optimise available office space, strengthen records management and ensure timely disposal of pending matters.

Responsible management of e-waste emerged as a key priority during the meeting. All participating organisations were advised to identify and segregate e-waste generated during the Campaign and ensure its disposal only through authorised recyclers, in accordance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022 and applicable guidelines of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC).

The initiative seeks to promote safe and environmentally responsible disposal practices while supporting resource recovery, environmental sustainability and cleaner workplaces.

The Nodal Officer also called upon all participating organisations to give greater visibility to their Campaign activities and achievements through their official websites and social media platforms. Organisations were encouraged to document and disseminate successful initiatives and replicable best practices so that the impact of Special Campaign 6 extends beyond individual offices and contributes to wider public awareness.

The review meeting concluded with a collective commitment to make Special Campaign 6 more outcome-oriented, measurable and citizen-centric, with focused action on Swachhata, disposal of pending matters, records management, optimal utilisation of office space, responsible e-waste management and public outreach.

Through coordinated action across its Headquarters, Autonomous Institutions and field organisations, DST is reinforcing its commitment to cleaner workplaces, greater administrative efficiency, responsible resource management and the institutionalisation of good governance.
