
Chicago / Hyderabad, November 1st, 2025: In a proud and unprecedented achievement for Indian medicine, the CAR Titans team representing KIMS Hospitals, Hyderabad, has triumphed at the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) Convergence 2025 held in Chicago, USA — winning the coveted ACR Knowledge Bowl Trophy, Gold Medal, and the Team Spirit Award.
This landmark victory marks the first time in the 40-year history of the prestigious global academic competition that an Indian team has captured the top honors, bringing international recognition to Indian rheumatology.
The winning CAR Titans team comprised Dr. Sarath Chandramouli Veeravalli, Head of the Department and Clinical Director, Rheumatology, KIMS Hospitals, Hyderabad; Dr. Mohith from KIMS Hospitals, Hyderabad; and Dr. Ritesh from JIPMER, Puducherry. The team demonstrated exceptional mastery in clinical rheumatology, immunology, and evidence-based decision-making, displaying remarkable poise under pressure across multiple intense rounds.
Competing against world-renowned institutions such as the Mayo Clinic, Massachusetts General Hospital, University of Chicago, University of California, and University of San Francisco, the CAR Titans showcased academic excellence, teamwork, and clinical acumen that impressed peers and judges alike.
The ACR Convergence, one of the largest global meetings in rheumatology, witnessed participation from over 15,000 delegates across 100+ countries. Out of numerous international applicants, 16 elite teams from leading universities and medical centers were selected for the finals.
Reflecting on the achievement, Dr. Sarath Chandramouli remarked:

As part of their recognition, the team received the ACR Travelling Trophy, Gold Medal, and complimentary registration for ACR 2026 in Orlando, USA, where they will participate as defending champions.
This milestone accomplishment by the KIMS Rheumatology Department stands as a shining example of India’s advancing academic leadership and global presence in rheumatology — inspiring young clinicians and researchers across the country to aim higher on the world stage.
