The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has been implementing Special Campaign 6 in accordance with the guidelines of the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG). The campaign has witnessed active participation from the Department, its Autonomous Institutes, Subordinate Offices, Field Offices, Technology Innovation Hubs (TIHs), Missions and other affiliated organisations.

At the commencement of the campaign, 315 cleanliness campaign sites were identified. Subsequently, on October 5, Joint Secretary (Administration) & the Nodal Officer for Special Campaign 6 chaired a review meeting with all Autonomous Bodies, Subordinate Offices, Field Offices, TIHs, Missions and other affiliated organisations. During the meeting, all organisations were encouraged to actively participate in the campaign and utilise the opportunity to undertake cleanliness drives, dispose of pending records and scrap, resolve public grievances and improve overall workplace management.

As a result of these sustained efforts, the number of identified cleanliness campaign sites increased significantly from 315 to 401. Out of 401 sites, till date 397 sites have already been conducted which reflects the Department’s proactive approach and enhanced participation across its organisations.

The campaign is expected to gain further momentum during the remaining period. The cumulative number of cleanliness campaign sites is anticipated to reach nearly 800 by the end of the campaign on 31st October 2026.

Significant progress has also been achieved in reducing pendency. Out of 135 public grievances, 99 have been disposed of, while 9 out of 23 public grievance appeals have been resolved. Further, 7 out of 12 references received from Members of Parliament have been disposed of.

Under record management, 6,280 out of 7,000 physical files due for review have been reviewed, and 2,598 identified files have been weeded out. In respect of e-files, 1,791 out of 1,900 files put up for review have been reviewed, of which 949 e-files have already been closed.

Through disposal activities and cleanliness campaigns undertaken during Special Campaign 6, a total of 61,888 square feet of space has been freed, while revenue amounting to ₹8,25,696 has been generated through the disposal of scrap.

Focused and sustained efforts are being made to complete all the remaining campaign activities within the stipulated timelines. The Department is closely monitoring the progress of the campaign and remains committed to ensure timely completion of all identified activities and achievements of the campaign targets by the conclusion of Special Campaign 6.

The above achievements represent the progress made during the mid-campaign period. With all constituent organisations continuing to undertake campaign activities and additional cleanliness sites being identified on a regular basis, the Department expects to further improve its performance during the remaining period.
