The GHMC Commences Street Dog Removal Drive from Government Hospitals in Compliance with Supreme Court Orders
In compliance with the directions issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court on November 7, 2025, regarding the removal of stray dogs from public premises such as educational institutions, hospitals, sports complexes, and transport hubs, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has initiated action across the city today.
As part of this drive, the GHMC has begun removing street dogs from Government hospitals, ensuring strict adherence to the Court’s directive that such dogs shall not be released back into these premises after sterilisation. On the first day of the operation, (277) stray dogs were caught and shifted to the GHMC Animal Care Centres for proper care, sterilization, vaccination, and management.
The GHMC will continue this activity in all Government and Private hospitals and later extend it to other identified public places, including schools, colleges, and transport hubs, in accordance with the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s orders.
