The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, through Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), organised the Youth for Viksit Bharat: MY Bharat Youth Convention at Swatantrata Bhavan, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, on October 10, 2026. The Convention brought together youth achievers, sportspersons, digital content creators and young leaders to celebrate youth excellence and encourage greater participation in nation-building.

The programme was attended by Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Shri Girish Chandra Yadav, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Youth Welfare and Sports, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and Shri Sunil Paliwal, Secretary, Department of Youth Affairs, Government of India. Indian cricketer Shri Dhruv Jurel and Hanuman Ansh director Vishal Chaturvedi also interacted with participants.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya called upon young people to see themselves not merely as beneficiaries of India’s development journey but as active partners and ambassadors of Viksit Bharat. Referring to the Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, he emphasised that today’s youth would be the generation that lives in and leads India in 2047. “Viksit Bharat must be shaped by the youth, for the youth and through the youth,” he said, urging young citizens to look beyond individual aspirations and contribute meaningfully to their communities and the nation.

Highlighting the importance of India’s cultural values, the Minister underscored the role of discipline, service, responsibility and respect in nation-building. He observed that meaningful transformation does not always require large interventions, as small and sustained efforts can produce significant results when undertaken with purpose. He encouraged young people to make themselves socially relevant by addressing community needs and translating their aspirations into constructive action.

Dr. Mandaviya highlighted the opportunities available to young citizens through MY Bharat for volunteering, leadership, community service and experiential engagement. He emphasised that India’s demographic strength can become a major developmental advantage when young people are connected with a larger national purpose. “Viksit Bharat is not only a destination for India’s youth; it is a national mission that has to be realised through the energy, ideas, discipline and participation of young Indians,” he said, urging youth to consider both the future they wish to build and the legacy they will leave for generations to come.

The Minister also highlighted the importance of youth participation in the Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Abhiyan, noting that substance abuse poses a challenge to young people’s potential, family well-being and national progress. He called upon young citizens to promote awareness, encourage positive choices and mobilise communities towards a drug-free society. He further urged them to use their creativity and digital influence responsibly in support of positive social change.

A key highlight of the Convention was the felicitation of achievers across diverse fields. Asian Games medallists Rohit Yadav, Prachi Choudhary, Parul Choudhary, Jay Kumar and Raj Kumar Pal were recognised for their sporting achievements. Arpit Giri, Aditya Upadhyay and Avantika, who cleared JEE and secured admission to IIT (BHU), were also felicitated for their academic accomplishments.

The Convention also honoured content creators Prajwal Prajapati, Abhishek Chaurasiya, Amit Kumar Gautam, Harsh Gupta, Shivam Pandey, Suryanshu Shukla, Saurabh Chandra, Bhim Yadav, Shivaditya, Dishu Khanna and Aditya Maurya, recognising the role of digital platforms in youth engagement, creative expression and positive social impact.

Indian cricketer Shri Dhruv Jurel shared his experiences with participants, highlighting the importance of discipline, commitment and perseverance in pursuing excellence in sports. Shri Vishal Chaturvedi, Director of Hanuman Ansh, also interacted with the participants, sharing insights on creative expression and the role of music and cultural storytelling in engaging young audiences. The programme featured a musical performance by Shri Sadhu Tiwari, associated with Hanuman Ansh, along with folk music, a nukkad natak and a folk dance presented by MY Bharat volunteers. These performances celebrated India’s rich cultural heritage and highlighted the role of art and culture in youth engagement.

The Convention highlighted MY Bharat’s role in connecting young citizens with opportunities for volunteering, leadership, experiential learning and community participation. By bringing together achievers and aspiring young people, it sought to amplify inspiring success stories, promote peer learning and encourage wider participation in youth-led initiatives.

The MY Bharat Youth Convention reaffirmed the importance of recognising young achievers, nurturing talent and enabling youth to contribute meaningfully to India’s development journey towards Viksit Bharat@2047.
