The patient, who was experiencing paralysis due to the tumor compressing her spinal cord, was treated by Dr. Himanshu Prasad and his team at KIMS Sunshine Hospital.
The medical team conducted a tumor board meeting to discuss the complexity of the case and decided to perform an En Bloc Resection, a staged surgical procedure to remove the tumor as a whole.
The surgery was performed in two stages:
1. Stage 1: The Interventional Radiology team embolized the tumor to reduce blood flow.
2. Stage 2: Dr. Himanshu Prasad and his team, including Dr. Anjaneylu Reddy and Neuroanesthetist Dr. Anagh Chakraborty, performed a 6-hour surgery to remove the tumor without breaching the margins, followed by spinal column reconstruction.
The patient recovered well and began rehabilitation training, where she started standing and walking independently.
