India’s First Transcranial Pulse Stimulation (TPS) Technology for Alzheimer’s Care Introduced at Solaceum Centre of Excellence
Alzheimer’s disease is one of the most challenging neurological conditions, particularly for elderly patients and their families. While there is currently no definitive cure for Alzheimer’s, advanced non-invasive neuromodulation technologies are opening up new possibilities for symptom management and improved quality of life.
Dr. Sreekanth Vemula, a leading neurophysician, said that Transcranial Pulse Stimulation (TPS) is an emerging non-invasive technology that offers a new therapeutic option for patients with Alzheimer’s disease. He explained that TPS uses focused acoustic pulses to stimulate specific areas of the brain without surgery.
According to Dr. Sreekanth Vemula, the technology has been introduced at Solaceum Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad.
The TPS procedure involves delivering controlled pulses to targeted regions of the brain. The treatment promotes neuroplasticity. Unlike conventional brain stimulation procedures that may require invasive interventions, TPS is a non-invasive procedure .
Dr. Vemula said that TPS, though not a cure for Alzheimer’s improves the quality of life significantly. Dr. Sreekanth Vemula also said that this technology is being explored and has shown benefits in many patients with Autism spectrum disorders, Parkinson’s disease, Atypical Parkinsonism (like PSP, FTD, MSA et.c.,) and memory loss, offering hope for patients with these otherwise difficult conditions.
