Mesmerising Rasabhiva Festival – Orissa Dance Academy, Bhubaneshwar, presented ‘RASABHIVA’ A unique dance festival

Bharatanatyam and Odissi dancers from Hyderabad and Bhubaneshwar present dance productions uniting the historical and the eternal, an evening where heritage and history came alive, that thrilled and inspired!

Hyderabad, India, September 4, 2025: Orissa Dance Academy, Bhubaneshwar, presented ‘RASABHIVA’ A unique dance festival, to a house full audience at Ravindra Bharati.

‘Rasabhiva – Two Dance Styles, Two Gurus, Two scintillating dance productions in One timeless evening brought together the Historical and the Eternal , a festival presented under the National Presence Scheme of the Ministry of Culture, Govt of India; was a unique evening of Bharatanatyam and Odissi.

This festival was inaugurated President SICA, Dr S Chakravarthy Smt Shashi Reddy Founderand art critic Sri G Anna Rao by lighting  the lamp.

The 1st choreography was by renowned Bharatanayam Guru Padmashri Dr Ananda Shankar Jayant who presented the dance theatre production ‘Manyam Veerudu Alluri Sitaramaraju’ by a 23 member team from Shankarananda Kalakshetra Hyderabad, along with guest artists Mithun Shyam, Surender Nath and young dancers from Hyderabad and Bangalore, that brought alive the rousing patriotism of Sitaramaraju in a scintillating dance production.

Infused with exquisite choreography combined with martial arts and thrilling fight scenes alongside grace charm and emotions, the thrilling production left the full house audience inspired, who gave long standing ovations at the end of the crisp 45 minute performance.

The second performance by Odissi Dance Academy Bhubaneshwar was the scintillating choreography ‘Gita Mahatyam’ by Padmashri Dr Aruna Mohanty

Some of the core concepts in the Bhagwat Gita were presented in an enthralling manner depicting journey of life as celebration; with key tenets of the Gita presented through relatable examples, proving that the philosophy of Bhagvad Gita, remains relevant to our lives even today.

With exquisite choreography, and stunning visuals, the Gita left the audience deeply touched and inspired, and a long standing ovation.

‘Such dance productions are what is needed today to bring our history and heritage alive’, said some of the many young people in the audience. The choreography by both the renowned Padmashri awardees Ananda Shankar Jayant, and Aruna Mohanty, was memorable, unique. Leaving the audience moved and inspired.
